On the occasion of the 1000 the anniversary of the city of Leipzig, this wonderful medal is issued by the Degussa. A skyline of the most prominent buildings of this city, are minted with an elaborate process on the obverse of this medal. Historic buildings like the St Thomas' Church (Thomaskirche), the Old City Hall, the new tower of the New City Hall (Rathausturm des neuen Rathaus) and the Monument to the Battle of the Nations (Völkerschlachtdenkmal) are presented next to the famous Gewandhaus, the big City High-rise (City-Hochhaus) and the trade fair tower (Messe-Hochhaus).
The coat of arms of Leipzig decorates the obverse coin as well as the annual figures 1015 - 2015.
On the reverse side is minted the Degussa-logo next to an eagle, which was recreated of an coat of arms of the city of Frankfurt, which was minted on a coin from 1840.
Informations about the weight, the fineness and the year of mintage are also minted on the reverse side of this medal.
